The wolf dude's torso looks strange. Abs and ribs don't really combine that way.

The Scientist

A sculpt I did as part of Judd Simantov's workshop. We spent the Friday drawing a whole lot of abstract shapes and turning them into character designs, working on becoming looser and faster. Saturday was spent sculpting, and Sunday was spent on Skype with Rich Diamant at Blizzard, and doing a quick texturing pass.

Haven't had a chance to touch it since (as the day after the workshop I started with a Gnomon thing for another two weeks), but here was my sculpt:

Game Community Meets

If you're coming to rAge, there'll be a whole bunch of game community presentations, and a meet on Saturday night. In particular, I'll be presenting a game art talk on Saturday morning at 10:30. I'll giving suggestions to devs and designers about how to plan work for artists in such a way that the artist can work most efficiently, pushing iteration to the bits where it matters most, and, together with a friend, showing some artwork (including my Anet character), and answering questions.

There are loads of other people talking too, most of whom are way more experienced and qualified than I am, so it's totally worth going to the others too!

No no I'm deliberately putting loops whereby there are creases\edges etc on the car, so that when I subdivide, I can put another loop to make a crease i.e. subsurf-aware modeling

ArtRage 3.5

The new ArtRage has been released. Among its list of changes is the ability for it to store pretty much everything you do as part of a script; you can record your entire painting process, and pass this along to others, and they'll be able to see every stroke you made, rather than just the final product. And, assuming this is stored as a set of instructions, the filesize of that should be significantly smaller than a video. Cool!

Throw in multithreading, and some interface tweaks, and this seems like a pretty awesome update. Free if you've already got ArtRage 3.
